Leah grew up in Sydney, Australia. She obtained her Bachelors of Applied Science in Physiotherapy (1990) from Cumberland College of Health Sciences, Sydney University, Australia. Her focus in the early years was to develop a general understanding across all rehabilitation settings. Treatment was founded on a strong manual therapy discipline which requires continuous evaluation, critical thinking and reassessment of the applied techniques to ensure desired results.

Upon moving to New York, Leah completed her Masters of Arts in Motor Learning (Movement science) (1996) at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY. This higher degree developed a deeper understanding of how the brain controls movement and various factors that affect the relearning of motor tasks after injury.
